Brazil Tour 2011

... we were just in the throws of making plans for our next trip to Canada, when, out of the blue, we received a call from two brazilian musician friends asking if we would be interested in doing a concert tour with them in Brazil this summer! 

Joao Luis and Manasses Malcher, had the idea to double up with us and present a concert program that has probably never been tried before. Joao and Manasses play guitar and trombone in duo-formation, like we do.

We were, of course, very happy to oblige, and are very much looking forward to spending time in Brazil and getting to know it’s people, music and countryside. Our trip will take us to Minas Gerais, where we will play concerts and give workshops in and around the city of Belo Horizonte. We’re particularly honored to be able to take part in the Savassi Jazz Festival and the Winter Festival from Pro-Music in Belo Horizonte.

For myself (“the Wolf”), in a way, this tour marks a return to my roots, as almost exactly 30 years ago I received my first guitar from a very close friend who came from Brazil and who was also a great inspiration to me, musically and personally.
